“DERConnect – A State of the Art Distributed Energy Resources Test Facility for Utilities”


DERConnect is an innovative research and testing facility at the University of California, San Diego, funded by the National Science Foundation. It is developing a dedicated test bed to accelerate the advancement of distributed energy resources (DERs) and transform utility operations. Participating utilities and OEMs can access a state-of-the-art platform for testing and validating various aspects of DER integration. Collaboration with leading researchers, industry experts, and utilities allows for sharing insights and best practices, shaping the future of DER certification, interconnection processes, demand response, and distributed controllers. DERConnect also offers a unique opportunity to enhance grid resilience, stability, and operational efficiency. Participants have direct input into developing cutting-edge solutions that drive the energy industry forward. The presentation will showcase the project's scope and how utilities can join the DERConnect test bed and be part of a collaborative ecosystem shaping the future of utility operations.
